His award winning designs include democratic objects such as the ubiquitous Garbo waste can and Oh Chair for Umbra, interiors such as the Morimoto restaurant, Philadelphia and Semiramis hotel, Athens. Karim collaborated with clients to create democratic design for Method and Dirt Devil, furniture for Artemide and Magis, brand identity for Citibank and Hyundai, high tech products for LaCie and Samsung, and luxury goods for Veuve Clicquot and Swarovski, to name a few.
Eliana Soares is a marketer and brand strategist with over 12 years of experience at both international and national level with a vast experience that encompasses FMCG as well as Luxury industries across categories such as Beauty, Trends or Wine&Spirits.
A versatile brand builder with a strong track record managing global brands, businesses and multicultural teams mainly at multinational level – Procter & Gamble – but also at local and family-owned businesses – Symington Family Estates.
A complementary experience in entrepreneurial projects in real estate & tourism (Home Couture), culture (Obvious Magazine), startups (Ganexa Capital) and strategy & marketing consultancy (Nautilo) has helped consolidate a strong positioning as brand curator and creator, and as expert in brand relaunch & repositioning, portfolio strategy, innovation strategy and integrated marketing.
João Castro is a trained electrical and computer science engineer from University of Porto and holds a Ph.D. from MIT and a post-doc from Stanford University.
Previously he participated in projects such the world’s first fully contactless ticketing system in Metro do Porto (2002) and managed the deployment of a national Wi-Fi infrastructure for all Portuguese colleges in 2004, among other projects.
He currently serves as the Director of Disruptive Innovation and Digital Transformation searching for new business models with Sumol+Compal, the largest non-alcoholic beverage company in Portugal.
He also serves Impresa, Portugal’s largest private media group, as a non-executive Board Member in the role of assisting the board in innovation and new business models.
He is also a partner in Ganexa Capital, a new seed capital investment firm and is also a regular invited speaker and lecturer in executive education programs teaching on the topics of innovation, entrepreneurship and design thinking.
